Hello and welcome to the June edition of the Share Six blog circle, this month our theme is ~Negative Space~ We finally have warmer weather and it is starting to feel a bit more like summer here in Scotland! The garden is blooming with colour now which is good for taking macro images! With restrictions lifting we can now travel - finally made it to the beach which was so good and I loved using my Lensbaby lenses and Omni filters there, such a magical ethereal combination! Hope you are all enjoying the sun and a bit more freedom wherever you are - stay well and safe, not out of the woods yet! "Is negative space the space you don't like, or the space that is not there? Hello and welcome to another edition of our Share Six blog circle, this month our new theme is 'Light Inspired'. I have to admit I am in love with the newest addition to make it into my camera bag, I was lucky enough to receive some 'eye candy' - imperfect crystals rescued from the guts of the Lensbaby product department! This one would have been destined for the Omni Coloured Expansion pack and it is a beautiful multi-coloured crystal prism that creates a variety of prismatic and fractal effects. It is soooooo amazing!! I used it for the whole of April whilst taking part in the 30 days with Lensbaby challenge and I love the effects you can achieve with it! It definitely adds an extra dimension of creativity and can make things look stunningly surreal. I found that the best time to use it was later on in the day, at sunset or when it is slightly cloudy, I'm sure early morning would be fantastic too but I've yet to make it out that early haha! In saying that, I have used it on a very bright sunny day with great success too. Restrictions have now lifted here in Scotland and we can now travel beyond our own area, so I have had a couple of trips with my son and finally saw some of my family for the first time in 14 months! These images were taken at Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands, Lake of Menteith in Stirlingshire and the last one at my local park. It so great to get out and about again, but wherever you go please stay safe! There could have been so many ways to interpret this theme but ultimately I decided to go through my archives for some of my earliest images from when I first discovered Lensbaby to (hopefully) show how much I have grown creatively as a photographer over the years - so it is a bit of an overshare! I got my first Lensbaby for Christmas 2012 and it was the Muse which came with the Double Glass Optic, I was using a Sony A200 then, now I have a Sony A6000 and my Lensbaby collection has grown significantly - it is a bit of an addiction!! “It’s only after you’ve stepped outside your comfort zone that you begin to change, grow, and transform.” ― Roy T. Hello and welcome to the March Share Six blog circle. This month our new theme is very appropriately ~frozen~ and that certainly has been the case here in most of Scotland! Thankfully it has thawed now, although for how long who knows....... I love to use my Lensbaby lenses when it is frosty and snowy, the bokeh and blur they make are beautiful. All the ones below have been taken with my Velvet 56 apart from a couple - the glow and velvety painterly look is gorgeous when you open up to wider apertures, I tend to use f2.8/f4 most of the time. It has definitely become a firm favourite as it is so versatile, I especially love it for macro. “Silence can always be broken by the sound Of footsteps walking over frozen ground In winter when the melancholy trees Stand abject and let their branches freeze ” ~ Merrill Moore I hope you enjoy my interpretation of the theme, remember to click on the link below and follow the blog circle to see what the other talented Share Six ladies have come up with this month! Hello and welcome to the February Share Six blog, boy that month certainly flew in very quickly , all the festivities are well and truly over and it's still like Groundhog Day here! Our lockdown continues until at least the end of this month........ so on a cheerier note our new theme is very appropriately ~silver lining~ Definition of silver lining : a consoling or hopeful prospect My silver lining in the past year, (although maybe not so much for him lol ) was spending more time with my son, as he has been stuck at home with us and not able to go in to work for the most part of the pandemic. When we could still travel last year we would go out, me with my camera and my Lensbabies, him with his drone. We are also lucky we have plenty of places locally too that we can walk to and that is also a silver lining - having beauty on our doorstep. Until next time - stay safe, J ♥ It's funny how, when things seem the darkest, moments of beauty present themselves in the most unexpected places.” ~ Karen Marie Moning I hope you enjoy my interpretation of the theme, remember to click on the link below and follow the blog circle to see what the other talented Share Six ladies have come up with this month! Not the best start to the year with yet another national lockdown here in Scotland and in the UK. I do hope our little blog circle lifts your spirits and brings a bit of brightness to your day, grab a coffee or even something stronger, I'm sure it's 5 o'clock somewhere :-) and let's celebrate the creative talents of these wonderful ladies. This group certainly helped me through the last year, having something to focus on to make me pick up my camera and to keep me going even when I didn't feel like it. I would definitely encourage you to go outdoors if you can, find some peace and solace in nature, dust that camera off if you have one - maybe join an online group or start a photo project , take time and find beauty in the small things you would normally overlook. Speaking of which - our new theme for January will be 'details' - definitely one of my favorites and just so happens it is also the theme for my new Project 52 2021! As always, I used my beloved Lensbaby lenses , they add a beautiful ethereal painterly look to my images, so I just had to share a few more than six! Hello and welcome to the last Share Six blog for 2020! And boy what a year it has been. I can't believe how quick it's gone especially after feeling like it was groundhog day for so long - but here we are, in December and still in various stages of lockdowns, we are still tier 4 so no travelling outside our local area for non essential journeys or visiting and I must admit it's hard not seeing family and friends, especially at this time of year. I'm so lucky and grateful that I can get out to my local park with my camera and my Lensbabies, it always lifts your spirits being out in nature. We are ending the year with a ~Story Telling ~ theme, yet again this put me outside my comfort zone, how on earth could I tell a story with photos, I don't have small children or a documentary style because that's what comes to mind when I think of story telling so I had to think of something and decided I would 'tell' the story of my local park through the seasons as I spend a lot of time there. It is a bit of an overshare as I couldn't just pick six! I would like to wish you all a safe, peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year, hopefully 2021 will be a better year! Hello and welcome to this months Share Six. I hope you are staying safe wherever you are in the world and that we can give you a bit of creative respite with our blog circle. This month our theme is ~traditions~ and to be honest I was absolutely stumped and didn't think I would have anything to contribute as I couldn't think of any traditions we have apart from Christmas! Then I realised it used to be a yearly tradition to get dressed up at Halloween!! We don't do it now as my son is grown up, but he had seen the Ghost Challenge and offered to get spooked up so I could take photos - so I jumped at the chance as that is definitely a rare offer these days lol We bought a cheap white sheet and headed up to the woods near our house. We also took along my creepy cat mask and I used my Lensbaby Sweet 35 with Omni crystal filters and my infrared filter to try and get a spooky effect, I think it worked, do you? This month our theme is ~books~ I was a total bookworm growing up and spent a lot of time at the library getting books out every couple of weeks and devouring them, I even remember the Christmas I got Watership Down as a present and I spent the entire day reading it, only moving to eat my Christmas dinner! I don't read so much now, usually only on holiday then I will go through 2 or 3 books chilling by the pool, I need to get back into the habit, especially as I have bookcases full of them! This month our theme will be ~colours~ Here in Scotland the colours are already starting to change, the nights are fair drawing in and there is a definite chill in the air - a sure sign of autumn! I just need to get out with my camera and capture it - if the rain stays off for long enough though!! It doesn't feel like we have had much of a summer, but then it's been a very strange year all round and has gone in surprisingly quickly considering every day felt like groundhog day for a few months! I hope this months colourful blog will brighten up your day and that everyone is getting some sort of normality back in their lives - keep staying safe!
