Hello and welcome to this months edition of the Share Six blog, our new theme will be ~Flat Lay~ I have to admit this theme was hard for me, I tend to overthink things - then procrastinate - then leave things to the last minute waiting for inspiration to hit me........sometimes that works......sometimes......like this time it definitely didn't! I had an idea but unfortunately it didn't work out as planned although I did manage to get a couple so it was a last minute scrabble to find something else from the archives that might fit the theme, I'm hoping this works, sort of I think - or pretty close at least! “You can't just turn on creativity like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood. What mood is that? Last-minute panic.” ― Bill Watterson I thought this quote was very appropriate for me lol :-D I hope you enjoy my interpretation of the theme, remember to click on the link below and follow the blog circle to see what the other talented Share Six ladies have come up with this month!. Hello and welcome to this months edition of the Share Six blog, our new theme will be ~Joy~ I had great joy recently - getting a week away on holiday! We went to Puerto de la Cruz which is a city on the north coast of Tenerife, the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands. It’s known for its dark, volcanic-sand beaches. On the seafront, Lago Martiánez is a saltwater pool complex designed by architect César Manrique. The old harbor is home to a 17th-century customs house and Batería de Santa Bárbara, a crumbling 18th-century fort. It also has the most incredible waves - having grown up in a seaside town and watched the waves crash on the shore in storms, I have seen some amazing ones over the years but I was in awe of these, and this was just the norm! I wonder what it's like in a storm?! It was also a surfers paradise and I definitely felt joy watching, I was mesmerised and could sit all day watching and listening to the waves pound and crash on to the rocks. I used my Lensbaby Edge 50 for these images and also my Omni Teardrop crystal for a few. I wasn't sure how I would interpret this theme but Liz had suggested anything that brings your soul alive in times of struggle or darkness. To me that immediately made me think of trees! I love to spend time in the forest and I'm lucky to have one within walking distance in the park near me, I do tend to spend a lot of time there! I have been really enjoying getting to know my new Lensbaby Obscura 16mm lens which has been living on my Sony Nex Infrared camera, it can give quite an ethereal effect, so this month is a slight overshare!! “Nature pulls us up when we feel down, worked up, and vulnerable. It takes us out of our neurosis, shakes off the cobwebs, and helps us to mentally refresh. Nature shows us the way of the cycles and impermanence of all things and awakens the heart.” ~ Michele Kambolis I hope you enjoy my interpretation of the theme, remember to click on the link below and follow the blog circle to see what the other talented Share Six ladies have come up with this month!. Hello and welcome to the Share Six blog circle - a new month and a new year! I hope you had a lovely peaceful Christmas and some relaxation after all the festivities! For January I picked the theme ~abstract~ one of my favourite subjects! I found this description on the web: Abstract photography, sometimes called non-objective, experimental or conceptual photography, is a means of depicting a visual image that does not have an immediate association with the object world and that has been created through the use of photographic equipment, processes or materials. An abstract photograph may isolate a fragment of a natural scene in order to remove its inherent context from the viewer, it may be purposely staged to create a seemingly unreal appearance from real objects, or it may involve the use of color, light, shadow, texture, shape and/or form to convey a feeling, sensation or impression. The image may be produced using traditional photographic equipment like a camera, darkroom or computer, or it may be created without using a camera by directly manipulating film, paper or other photographic media, including digital presentations. Happy New Year, wishing you an abundance of blessings, health and happiness and I hope 2022 is good to you and your families. Hello and welcome to the December blog circle, this month our theme is ~ autumnal~ so time to look back to just a few weeks ago for some autumn gold and the remnants of summer as here we are in December already - how did that happen so fast!! We have even had a sprinkling of snow already and summer seems like a lifetime ago! "Art has the power to transform, to illuminate, to educate, inspire and motivate." ~ Harvey Fierstein Hello and welcome to our November edition of the the Share Six blog circle. This month our theme is 'transform' so I thought I would share how I 'transform' an image by changing aperture or using my Lensbaby Omni filters. Aperture refers to the opening of a lens's diaphragm through which light passes. It is calibrated in f/stops and is generally written as numbers such as 1.4, 2, 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11 and 16. In intentional camera movement (ICM), if you stop down (make diaphragm smaller) and the camera is moved during the exposure you get a creative or artistic effect. This causes the image points to move across the recording medium, producing an apparent streaking in the resulting image. Using the Lensbaby Omni Crystals and Wands you can get creative with in-camera effects, light distortions and double exposure type effects. They can add an ethereal painterly look to your images. ~ Meaning of transform ~ make a marked change in the form, nature, or appearance of. ~ Until next time, enjoy reading the wonderful blogs ❤︎ I hope you enjoy my interpretation of the theme, remember to click on the link below and follow the blog circle to see what the other talented Share Six ladies have come up with this month! Hello and welcome to our October edition of the the Share Six blog circle. This month our theme is 'documentary' - I didn't think I would have anything for this theme as it's not a style of photography that I do intentionally, but as Sharleen my fellow blogger pointed out, my photos from our break in Tenerife document our holiday! We finally got away on our postponed trip to Costa Adeje from last year and it was so worth the extra hassle and paperwork!! I am so missing the heat already, it was so lovely just to relax in the sun, especially as it is so much cooler here in Scotland now Autumn has arrived! So I will share a few pics taken with my iPhone as I still haven't got round to editing any with my camera and to be honest I actually didn't take too many either - it was pretty much a social media and photography free holiday - just lots of walking and then chilling by the pool, and maybe a cocktail or too - cheers! Hello and welcome to our September edition of the the Share Six blog circle. This month our theme is inspired by a ‘quote’ “My life is shaped by the urgent need to wander and observe, and my camera is my passport.” — Steve McCurry I found the quote very apt in that I do love a wee wander with my camera! I have really been enjoying learning to use my Sony Nex full spectrum Infrared converted camera with my Lensbaby lenses. I struggle a bit not having a viewfinder though and might need to invest in a sun shield for the lcd screen! The false colour effects and B&W are surreal and otherworldly - paired with Lensbaby it's another level of magical creativity! I also love to pair my images with quotes so I couldn’t resist to add a few more. Hello and welcome to the August edition of the Share Six blog, this month our new theme is 'FLORAL' Finding calm in nature this month with some floral images. I hope you are enjoying the summer ( or winter!! ) wherever you are in the world - stay safe! The weather played ball for a change and we had beautiful sunshine - it also warmed up a bit, even with that East coast sea breeze! There are so many beautiful coastal walks and we certainly got our steps in and did plenty of walking. The first 4 images here were taken on our evening stroll along the cliffs and the sunset overlooking this field was spectacular! I used my Trio 28 twist for the first two and the Velvet 85 for the next two, the Velvets do add an extra gorgeous painterly glow. The last two images were taken at the summit of Tomtain which is the most prominent of the Kilsyth Hills - the easterly extension of the Campsies. I used my Lensbaby Sweet 80 and Omni filter, again it was another beautiful sunset. “Ô, Sunlight!
