Hello and welcome to the August Share Six blog circle, this month our theme is ~refresh~ "A change of environment is pretty refreshing" ~ Owen Farrell Definition of refresh transitive verb 1: to restore strength and animation to : REVIVE 2: to freshen up : RENOVATE 3: to restore or maintain by renewing supply : REPLENISH 4: to run water over or restore water to 5: to update or renew (something, such as an image, the contents of a computer memory, or the displayed version of a Web page) especially by sending a new signal This month I went through some of my old holiday images to pick some for our new theme. Sadly I don't think we will get anywhere hot this year like a lot of other families because of Corona Virus, quarantine rules and cancelled flights, it's highly doubtful - so I will just have to 'refresh' my memory with the fun times we had in previous years and hopefully it won't be too far in the future when we can feel the sand between our toes, have a cool refreshing sangria by the pool and relax in the heat! Hello and welcome to the July Share Six blog circle, this month our theme is ~new~ new adjective UK /njuː/ US /nuː/new adjective (RECENTLY CREATED) recently created or having started to exist recently I was in a bit of a quandary for what to do for this theme, then I thought well, we all have a 'new normal' in these unprecedented times - and my new normal recently has been joining in the weekly zoom competitions that the Camera Club started hosting because of lockdown . We have to take new images every week and can't use anything from our archives, then whoever wins picks the theme for the following week. It really pushes you to try to come up with something different to fit and maybe even trying a new technique or style. So, for this months theme of 'new' I have decided to share some of my entries from the last few weeks (and a few more that I enjoyed making) I also want to share some really exciting 'new news' with you all. I am so happy to announce I was invited and accepted to be an official Lensbaby Ambassador Affiliate. As you have probably gathered from previous posts I LOVE Lensbaby lenses! I have been using them pretty much exclusively now for 8 years, there is always one on my camera and if not it will be an old vintage lens. I have quite a few lensbabies now, just wish I could afford more haha! Lensbaby certainly jump started my love of photography again when I discovered them and helped to give me a creative edge to 'see in a new way' - they unleashed my inner artist! If you are after something a bit different check them out - from classic sweet spot, swirly bokeh, cool tilt-shift edge and glowing vintage vibes , they are so creative and fun! They have a sale on now too! This month our theme is ~ordinary to extraordinary~ and it will certainly get the cogs in the brain working! Another month has whizzed by in a flash even though every day is like groundhog day! I hope everyone is well and now that lockdown is easing enjoying a little bit more freedom. "Nature teaches us simplicity and contentment because in its presence we realize we need very little to be happy" ~ Mark Coleman Hello and welcome to the Share Six blog for May, this month our theme is ~simplicity~ I hope everyone is safe, well and still sane! It certainly is a time for some simplicity in our lives at the moment, a time to slow down, stop and smell the roses as the saying goes. Maybe spend more time in nature and learn to be at peace with yourself, it’s so important to keep up self-care during this stressful time, until the happy day we can see our family and friends again - it will be a massive hug fest! Until then, wherever you are, take care and stay safe ♥ I hope you enjoy my interpretation of the theme, remember to click on the link below and follow the blog circle to see what the other talented Share Six ladies have come up with this month! Hello and welcome to our Share Six loop for April, this month our theme is always a firm favorite of mine ~imperfection~ Perfection is definitely overrated! We find ourselves in a very strange surreal time just now, it's quite hard to get your head around it all. Although we are pretty much in a lock down here in the UK we can still go out for a walk/run/cycle once a day, and of course my camera comes with me on that daily walk, although I have been trying to build up my fitness again by jogging some of the way too! We are very fortunate that we live within walking distance from a large local park/fields/forest so we can still be socially distant from others. It's so good to see that spring is starting to blossom here too which means lots of photo opportunities for me! I hope you are all well and staying safe and that normal life activities can be resumed again soon, although I don't think it will ever be the same again sadly, but I do hope our little blog circle can bring a few moments of beauty and light to brighten up these dark days. Sending Love, Light and Blessings ♥ Wherever you are #stayhome #staysafe #washyourhands “One of the basic rules of the universe is that nothing is perfect. Perfection simply doesn't exist.....Without imperfection, neither you nor I would exist” ― Stephen Hawking “Imperfections are not inadequacies; they are reminders that we're all in this together.” ― Brené Brown I hope you enjoy my interpretation of the theme, remember to click on the link below and follow the blog circle to see what the other talented Share Six ladies have come up with this month! Hello, welcome to our Share Six blog for March. This month our theme is ~morning~ From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Morning is the period of time from sunrise to noon. There are no exact times for when morning begins (also true for evening and night) because it can vary according to one's lifestyle and the hours of daylight at each time of year. However, morning strictly ends at noon, which is when afternoon starts. Morning can be defined as starting from midnight to noon, or from sunrise (which varies throughout the year) to noon, or from when one wakes up to noon. Morning precedes afternoon, evening, and night in the sequence of a day. Originally, the term referred to sunrise. I will fess up now, I am NOT a morning person at all, more of a night owl so when I saw the theme was morning I wasn't sure what I was going to do for it, but we have just come back from a short trip to Rome and I had to be up early every day to cram in lots of sightseeing. I didn't think I had anything to fit the bill but when I went through all my images there was quite a few I had taken between 9 am and midday as we wandered about this fabulous city. It was all a bit overwhelming to take in and to be honest and I didn't take a lot of creative images, mainly record shots to look back on in years to come as we have never been to Rome /Italy before. It wasn’t the most relaxing time and we came back totally exhausted with very sore feet haha! BUT it was amazing! So anyway, here are my 'morning' shots, all mainly taken with my trusty Lensbabies. Hello and welcome to the Share Six blog circle, can't believe we are into our 2nd month of the New Year already. It's been terrible weather wise here with lots of rain and unseasonably warm with it and only one day of snow so far which didn't last long. On the upside of so much rain all the rivers are flowing furiously which gave me the chance to spend some time using slow shutter speeds and a little bit of ICM [Intentional Camera Movement] to make some abstract ~out of focus~ images for our new theme. I used my Lensbaby Trio 28 and Velvet 56 as I am doing another Project 52 which will be Black & White with Lensbaby lenses this year. The cool thing about the Trio 28 is the 'in-between' mode which gives a double exposure type effect when you turn between lenses [ it has 3 built in lenses, sweet, twist and velvet] I got a bit carried away this month and added a few extra - out of focus is one of my favorite themes after all! Hello and a very Happy New Year everyone, welcome to our first Share Six Blog Circle of 2020. I hope you had a lovely peaceful Christmas and I would also like to wish you all a very happy, healthy and creative year ahead, with plenty of photographic opportunities!! Our theme for the month of January will be ~macro~ Although I love to photograph macro images and I was so looking forward to trying out my new Lensbaby Omni filter kit along with my macro extension tubes, I have to admit I had to delve into my archives to find images I hadn't edited or posted before as I haven't had the opportunity to get out with my camera recently, hopefully that will be remedied soon now my back is on the mend and I get out and about again! I hope you can go out and see the small details normally missed, just look a little bit closer and it’s a whole different world! “When you pay attention to detail, the big picture will take care of itself.” ~George St-Pierre I hope you enjoy my interpretation of the theme, remember to click on the link below and follow the blog circle to see what the other talented Share Six ladies have come up with this month! Hello and welcome to our last Share Six blog circle for 2019! I can't believe how quickly this year has gone, it really is getting quicker every year! We have had some fabulous themes this year and our last one is no exception, for December our theme is ~light~ On the 1st of December we had a very heavy hoar frost and I decided I would get up early to try and get some sunrise shots, not an easy task as I am absolutely not a morning person, especially when it's cold and dark! We went up the Ta Ma Doon road above Kilsyth and the view was amazing, there was a thick bank of fog across Kilsyth and from above it looked almost like the sea, it was a wonderful sight to see and definitely worth getting up for. We carried on up to the Crow Road and stopped at the car park at the top of the hill and got to see the spectacular sunrise and yet more fog covering Lennoxtown. We then carried on down to Campsie Golf Course which sits at the foot of the Campsie hills and had a wee walk round there, by which time it was -7°C and still very foggy in places. Although it was fantastic to see I was glad to get back home to the warmth of a big mug of herbal tea! Thank you to everyone for all your support throughout the year, it is very much appreciated. I hope you have enjoyed reading our blogs and our interpretations of the themes. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry, Joyful and Peaceful Christmas and hope to see you all in the New Year! Hello and welcome to the Share Six blog circle, for the month of November our theme will be ~portraits~ Portraits are a bit out of my comfort zone, and not something I've done before as in a photoshoot type situation, but luckily I was asked to take some photos for a friend who was going to be playing in a series of classical concerts as part of a duo. Lynn and Kieran formed Bruadar Duo, with Lynn playing the flute and Kieran the classical guitar. They played a programme of music from Spain, France and South America in a few small intimate settings in venues around Scotland, one of which I managed to go to myself. It was held in the beautiful little Kilmelford Church, just outside my home town of Oban. They are very talented in their own right and as a duo played beautifully together! We had a fun time up at the Colzium and at the Scottish Opera Building as I took photos whilst they rehearsed. Here are just a few of my efforts, with a few extra as it was hard to pick just six!
